BIOGRAPHY
Yonela Mnana is a jazz scholar, a recording artist, and a jazz pianist who also teaches and composes. The diversity that underlies his musicianship has always been inherent throughout his life.
Born in the southeastern Cape part of Transkei and educated in the northernmost parts of the Limpopo province, the Thogwaneng-based Siloe Boarding School for the Blind (30 km outside Polokwane) saw his Catholic school tuition coupled with the Sepedi and hometown IsiXhosa musical backgrounds seeping through his jazz-inspired compositions effortlessly. His high school choral experience was later crystallized by his classical and jazz education at the University of Witwatersrand. He completed his junior degree, B.Mus with honors, in 2007 and his M.Mus degree in jazz piano with distinction. He has subsequently been awarded the Arts Research in Africa (ARA) bursary in 2019, the FirstRand Trust Bursary, and the Wits-Hunt/Rorich bursary to continue his PhD studies in South African solo jazz pianism.

The release of this album led to great success in written reviews and sold-out shows.
